REC Czech Republic

Regional Environmental Center in Czech Republic (REC CZ)

REC is a not-for-profit, independent international organisation established in 1990 by the United States, the European Commission and Hungary. The main activities of organization are in the following areas: integrated water resources management, flooding protection, groundwater quality, river basin management, strategic environmental assessment, environmental regulations, education on nature protection, management of public participation programmes. REC gradually made good contacts, and started cooperation with key groups of society: NGOs, universities, state government, local administration and business – in Czech Republic and abroad. REC CZ is a partner organisation in project INTENSE. They provide content and organisational input for implementation of all WPs in Czech Republic.


LAG Moravian Karst

Local Action Group Moravian Karst (Czech Republic)

MAS Moravský kras is an association of 54 small municipalities, small businesses and NGOs in the Moravský kras region of Moravia. The area covered by MAS includes about 42,000 inhabitants. Its central objective is to raise the quality of living and the living standards and to support sustainable development in the rural region, located in the South East of the Czech Republic near the city of Brno. The group of municipalities which joined forces are among the smallest (most of them having less than 1,000 inhabitants) which gives an opportunity to find practical solutions for municipalities of similar size. The main aim of the Local Action Group Moravian Karst is to perform the tasks as sample municipalities for the Czech Republic in close co-operation with the country co-ordinator REC Country Office Czech Republic.
